LinkedIn to ‘strategically’ expand staff

Written By Unknown on Rabu, 18 Februari 2015 | 18.18

LinkedIn, the business networking site with 350 million subscribers and a stock up 43 percent in the last year, is beefing up its small but growing editorial staff.

"Our plan is to keep hiring throughout the year, but it will be hiring strategically, not in mass numbers," said Dan Roth, the company's executive editor.

It just added three new editors to its small editorial team.

Caroline Fairchild is the new economy editor, based in San Francisco.

She was raided from Fortune, where she had been writing a daily newsletter aimed at women entitled "Broadsheet."

Roth also made two other recent raids: Ramya Venugopal, most recently managing editor of Your Story, an India-based site covering entrepreneurs and start-ups, will serve as a senior editor based in Bengaluru, India, and Maya Pope-Chappell, who was in the Wall Street Journal's Hong Kong bureau.

She will become a New York based editor of LinkedIn focusing on education and millennials.

"It' s all about traffic engagement," Roth said. "We want to make sure people are interacting and commenting."
