Imagine Jeremy Sisto as Jack Dawson in "Titanic" because it almost happened.
"That was one of the many, many jobs I didn't get," the 40-year-old actor told Huffington Post Live on Tuesday about his audition for the 1997 classic film starring Kate Winslet.
"It's always fun to see a movie that you know really well and love with this alternate universe person in there," the former "Suburgatory" star said. "So while I was a little embarrassed to like reveal one of my many failures in life, at the same time I couldn't deprive 'Titanic' lovers of seeing that alternate universe."
Sisto says his experience was a bit different from other auditions.

"James Cameron had this script that was written, but it wasn't like a normal script," explained Sisto who says he read the script with Winslet as well as three other actresses. "Some of it was kind of written in prose. It was the first time I had read a script that was written like somebody was going to actually make the movie, not like they were trying to appease agents or anything. It was exciting just to be part of the process at all."
Ultimately Leonardo DiCaprio snagged the role.
Sisto says despite losing out, he was inspired by his experience. "To be involved in something that had that kind of scope—anything James Cameron does has this huge scope to it," Sisto said. "He's trying to push the limits on things. So I was just insanely inspired by it and a little heartbroken when the role didn't come my way."
