ISIS versus The Hamptons?
A posh Montauk hotel got a rude surprise Saturday night, when its Web site was attacked by hackers claiming to be ISIS terrorists.
Anyone logging on to montaukmanor.com would see not only beautiful photographs of the Montauk Manor's rooms, suites and meeting spaces, but also the black ISIS logo, with the words "There is no God but God" in Arabic.
Click anywhere, and the ISIS insignia would follow — along with audio of Islamic music that sounded like it had been lifted right off an ISIS recruiting video.
"I don't know how they're going to fix the site," Montauk Manor front desk clerk Andrea Harvey told The Post at around 10 p.m. Saturday, about an hour after the site was hacked.
"Unfortunately, our general manager just left for the day," she said, adding that the site likely would not be un-hacked until sometime Sunday.
"Hacked by Islamic State," the intruding image claimed. "We Are Everywhere."
But it was followed by a not-so-sinister emoticon: ";)"
The message concludes with a Facebook link to a user calling himself Mohammed Ali.
The user's profile picture is a "trollface," a popular Internet meme among hackers.
Montauk Manor was just one of at least a half-dozen businesses that found identical ISIS insignias foisted upon their sites on Friday and Saturday.
The victims included the Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio, the Dogwoods Lodge dog kennel in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka, Calif.
Similarly hacked were Montgomery Inn in Montgomery, Ohio, the Moerlein Lager House in Cinncinnati, and a nonprofit vocational charity and a digital agency named Elasticity in St. Louis.
At least some of the seemingly random collection of victims shared the same hosting companies.
Montauk Manor and the St. Louis sites all used a company named Liquid Web. "We take the security of our clients very seriously," Liquid Web told the NBC affilliate in St. Louis.
