Stills the one to trust in New Orleans

The Saints have delivered a season full of disappointment on most fronts. Drew Brees ranks a distant fourth among fantasy quarterbacks. Jimmy Graham is clinging to a narrow edge for the No. 2 tight end ranking, far behind Rob Gronkowski. Wide receiver Marques Colston has disappeared, and rookie wideout Brandin Cooks is lost for the season.

Outside of running back Mark Ingram, only one other Saint has performed above expectations: WR Kenny Stills.

The second-year wideout never has been a high-volume guy. He was a player you plugged in on a bye week or snatched on the cheap in daily leagues, then crossed your fingers and hoped that would be one of the few weeks he snagged a touchdown — but at least it likely would be a long one.

With Cooks out and Colston well on his way to a second straight disappointing season, Stills has become a more reliable fantasy commodity.

The big-play potential is there — he hauled in a 69-yard TD last week. And now, he is getting a more consistent dose of targets. Two weeks ago, he had a career-high eight catches and nine targets. He has been thrown to six or more times four of the past five weeks, after getting six targets just once in his first 22 career games. By comparison, Colston has five or fewer targets in four of the past five.

No longer is Stills just a big-play threat, now he is getting a steady diet of receptions, and more opportunities to exploit his explosiveness.

This doesn't mean to lock him into your lineup, but when a matchup like Sunday's against the woeful Panthers comes along, you take advantage.

The Panthers rank 24th in fantasy points allowed to opposing WRs. Plus, the Saints are at home, on the turf, where Carolina has given up at least 30 points in five of its past six visits.

Stills also gives you options in the weeks to come, with no standout pass defenses among the Saints' remaining opponents — at Bears, vs. Falcons at Buccaneers.

Get him in your lineup this week, and feel confident you have a fallback option in the weeks to come.

BIG WEEKS

Eli Manning, QB, Giants, at Titans
With RB Rashad Jennings banged up, Big Blue may not have a reliable running game, and the Titans are no great shakes vs. the pass. Eli has proven capable of some fantasy duds, but we'll take our chances with WR Odell Beckham Jr. in tow against vulnerable Tennessee secondary.

Carlos Hyde, RB, 49ers, at Raiders
Though he still trails Frank Gore in weekly touches, Hyde looks like the better backfield option for San Fran, and he has a larger role in the passing game. The Raiders rank last in containing opposing fantasy backs and have given up at 100 yards rushing in nine of 12 games this season.

Stedman Bailey, WR, Rams, at Redskins
Seems to have a connection with St. Louis QB du jour Shaun Hill. Bailey has 12 catches for 189 yards and a TD in the past two games. Washington has allowed 26 passing TDs, third highest in the league.
Jarvis Landry, WR, Dolphins, vs. Ravens
He has at least five catches in five straight games and has three combined TDs in his past three games. Ravens secondary is hurting — allowing second-most fantasy points to opposing WRs.

Jermaine Gresham, TE, Bengals, vs. Steelers
Steelers have given up a tight end TD in five straight games and six out of seven, and they allow the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing TEs.

SMALL WEAKS

Joe Flacco, QB, Ravens, at Dolphins
The Miami pass defense ranks second in passing yards allowed (only the Chiefs allow fewer) and is the second stingiest for opposing WRs (behind just the Seahawks).

Tre Mason, RB, Rams, at Redskins
The Washington defense may be generous, but they are significantly less so on the ground. The Redskins rank ninth in rushing yards allowed. They are even more impressive on the fanatsy front, allowing the fourth-fewest points to opposing RBs.

Jeremy Maclin, WR, Eagles, vs. Seahawks
There is a reason the Seahawks rank No. 1 against opposing fantasy WRs: Seattle has allowed one TD to a wide receiver in the past eight games — one! — and just three all year. This is a rare time when you should sit a top scoring player this late in the season.

Coby Fleener, TE, Colts, at Browns
Fleener has posted strong fantasy totals in three of the past four games,
but this week marks the return of Dwayne Allen. He scored in three straight before his ankle injury in Week 9.

TWEET OF THE WEEK

#Madman 134-team tally: 108 in playoffs. 11 with winning records not in playoffs, including two 8-5 teams. One 8-5 team playoff destiny TBD.

THE DECISION

Post fantasy Madman Drew Loftis and Roto Files columnist Jarad Wilk debate whom you should start this week:

TEXANS DEF/ST vs. VIKINGS DEF/ST

Loftis: Texans — No team in the NFL gives up more fantasy points to opposing defenses/special teams than do the Jaguars. No one. Not even the Geno Smith/Michael Vick Jets can rival the counterproductive production of Jacksonville QB Blake Bortles — who leads the league in INTs, has thrown three pick-sixes, and has been sacked 34 times, fourth most in the league.

Wilk: Vikings — The Jets ran the ball 49 times Monday night and threw just 13 times, and Smith still managed to throw an INT (his 11th of the season). Bortles may be helping opposing defenses a bit, but so is Geno. He has two pick-sixes, been sacked 19 times and has seven fumbles (losing it three times). The Vikes are seventh in overall fantasy defensive points, are coming off a week in which they scored 24 against the offensively challenged Panthers, and the Jets have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game (9.7) to opposing defenses. Have I mentioned Geno Smith is the Jets' starting QB?

LAST WEEK: Loftis 21 (Rashad Jennings — 91 rushing yards, two TDs), Wilk 5 (Denard Robinson — 44 rushing yards, 10 receiving yards).

SEASON: Wilk leads series, 6-5-2.
