A generous Queens police officer paid to have an elderly woman's car taken out of impound after it was towed away Friday, police said.
Police say the woman called the the 109th Precinct where police officer Brian Kinkaid, 30, has worked for six years.
The old lady had parked her car next to a hospital in Flushing but discovered her car had been towed after leaving an appointment.
"She called the precinct asking for help on how to get her car out of impound, so my partner and I drove to where she was to drive her over to where her car had been towed," said Officer Kinkaid.
"When she found out that the impound only took cash and didn't take checks, that's when I went to the ATM."
Officer Kinkaid took the $185 out of his personal checking account to help the woman, who said she didn't have the cash on her to get her car out of impound.
"It's one of those things, you know? Not a part of the job description, but certainly something we encounter."
"Things like this are an everyday occurrence for police officers throughout the city," said Kinkaid.
"We run into these situations daily, it's not always crime we're dealing with."
