Nick Cannon taking Mariah split ‘one day at a time’

Nick Cannon says he's taking his breakup with Mariah Carey in stride.

"I'm just taking everything one day at a time and just being the best person that I can possibly be at the end of the day," he told Extra on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old "America's Got Talent" host added that he wishes Carey "nothing but the best."

Fans got a glimpse of Cannon's newly covered "Mariah" tattoo (he's replaced the songstress' name with a crucifix), but the father of two says it's not quite complete.

"It wasn't supposed to be revealed yet," said Cannon, who recently got into business with heartbroken starlet Amber Rose. "I had just gotten it done, it was painful. It hurt a lot and I'm still not finished, I'm still probably like six more sessions away."

While Cannon has been on a promotional run appearing on "The View" Thursday and "Huffington Post Live" on Wednesday, Carey is in Asia on her "Elusive Chanteuse" tour.
