Stephanie March, the actress known for her role as ADA Alex Calbot on "Law & Order SVU," knows a thing or two about getting arresting looks.
March and her longtime makeup artist on the show, Rebecca Perkins, have opened Rouge New York, a makeup bar, and are looking to expand in the US, Julie Earle-Levine reports.
March and Perkins launched Rouge in Soho in December. There, women can get their faces done by professional makeup artists. Women get to choose from "looks" that include "You — Only Better," which is natural, light makeup, or "Total Polish," a glamorous evening look.
Perkins says many of the clients do not enjoy the traditional "beauty-counter experience," where women can have makeup applied, not always by experts, and then get "the hard sell" to buy products.
Rouge charges $50 for the natural or polished look. Most customers come in for makeup for weddings, job interviews and dates, but some give it a whirl without an event to go to.
The duo, who for seven years worked together on the "SUV" set, where Perkins was the makeup department head, are preparing to open a second Manhattan salon Uptown in 2015. They have spent several hundred thousand dollars to date.
Rouge will also do Halloween styling that costs $90 for an hour-long session to create a goblin, witch or any other scary character, with authentic-looking wounds, scabs and scars if need be.
Perkins, has also worked with Katharine McPhee and Jemima Kirke and on "Law & Order" with Hilary Duff, Cynthia Nixon and Mischa Barton.
