John Kerry may be next to head to mogulfest

Sun Valley, Idaho – The growing unrest in the Middle East can wait. Secretary of State John Kerry is slated to take time off his busy schedule to chat up the moguls here at Allen & Co.'s annual retreat.

Kerry is scheduled to speak at the exclusive tech and media conference on Thursday on a panel including former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

They will be discussing philanthropy — Bloomberg's full-time job since his term ended last year.

One billionaire philanthropist is on the MIA list this year. Bill Gates had not shown up by Wednesday despite once being a regular attendee.

Also missing from some of the festivities was Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer, who hadn't been seen coming or going from the conference meetings as of late Wednesday afternoon.

Conference watchers joked that the 39-year-old Yahooligan had perhaps fallen asleep and missed her flight — a reference to reports that the tech exec kept ad executives waiting for hours at the Cannes advertising festival because she dozed off and was late for a meeting.

A Yahoo! spokesperson didn't return a request for comment about Mayer's plans for the Allen & Co. meeting of the moguls, which is known for hatching deals like Jeff Bezos' purchase of the Washington Post.

Mayer's recent dealmaking spree — including 22 privately held tech companies last year — is expected to continue this year after Yahoo! sells part of its 40 percent stake in Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba post IPO.

IAC/InterActiveCorp's Chairman Barry Diller is slated to speak to the conference-goers on Thursday, but he didn't look worried about his upcoming appearance on Wednesday.

The 72-year-old mogul could be spotted riding a bike around the Sun Valley Lodge like a teenager, wearing an orange hoodie, shorts and sneakers.

Diller's wife, fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg, wasn't pedaling alongside her husband, leading at least one onlooker to wonder if everything was all right.

Turns out everything is hunky-dory — it's just that Diane isn't into biking.

"I like my legs," she said when The Post caught up with her.

Apple CEO Tim Cook wasn't shy about touting his product at the conference, telling a Bloomberg reporter to upgrade her phone — which happened to be a Samsung model.

Cook made the recommendation as he walked near the Duck Pond, where the moguls — including longtime Apple exec Eddy Cue — were gathering for lunch.

Cue has been reportedly tasked with development of Apple's much-anticipated smartwatch.

When Cue departed the luncheon with Image Entertainment co-founder Brian Glazer, he said he might take a break from dealmaking to watch Argentina play Netherlands in the World Cup semifinals.

"That's a good idea," said Cue when asked if he was headed to the soccer match.

Several moguls gathered at the Duchin Bar to watch the game, including Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, video game executive Bing Gordon and Xapo founder Wences Cesares, who is fresh off a $20 million fundraising round.

Cesares, a Patagonia native, was so excited for the match that he changed into an Argentina jersey to watch the game with his fellow moguls.
