No more worrying about your wallet while you take a dip.
A clever entrepreneur from New Jersey has invented a revolutionary new gadget that could end beach theft in the Big Apple.
The Beach Vault — a hidden capsule that screws into the sand, under a towel — stores belongings like keys, purses and wallets is expected to cost $33.
"The idea was that if you were lying on the towel and you fell asleep you wouldn't have to worry about watching your stuff or trying to keep hold of it while closing your eyes," creator Marcal DaCunha, 29, told the Daily Mail.
"You place the towel over the top of it, which has a hole in it so you can access the container, but covered by a built-in pillow," he said.
DaCunha, who is also a pastor from Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, said the "beach locker" isn't thief-proof — but that personal items are safer underground than out in the open.
DaCunha has made a prototype and is now trying to raise money on Kickstarter to manufacture the gadget.
The idea struck while on the way home from the beach with his wife, he said.
"She said,'What if we had a container you could put underneath your towel that could hide all of your stuff?'," DaCunha said.
The vault screws 12 inches into the sand, is waterproof comes with a special towel.
