A man arrested for being part of the hacker collective Anonymous was captured only after the feds "flipped" an upstate man with autism who was one of his alleged accomplices, according to court filings.
The documents, published Tuesday by The Smoking Gun, say Thomas "Eekdacat" Madden, 26, of Troy, NJ, helped authorities identify and arrest Ryan Ackroyd, a 27-year-old Brit.
Madden also became a cooperating government witness .
Previous reports have linked the hackers' arrests and indictments solely to Hector Xavier Monsegur, a famed hacker from the Lower East Side known as "Sabu," who was busted and flipped by the feds.
