Cuomo rejects ObamaCare revamp

Add New York to the list of states that won't be re-doing ObamaCare.

Gov. Cuomo on Monday rejected President Obama's 11th-hour offer to renew medical policies that were canceled when the new national health plan rolled out.

Cuomo said the ObamaCare health market exchange run by the state is functioning largely as expected, unlike the error-riddled federal Web site HealthCare.gov.

"We haven't had the kind of issues in New York in our exchange that they've had nationwide. Our program has actually been working well. The Web site has been working well," Cuomo said during an event on Staten Island.

In New York, there are 1.28 million patients in the small-group market and 170,000 in the individual and self-proprietors market.

The state Health Department said at least 100,000 New Yorkers received cancellation notices.

The association representing state health insurers praised Cuomo's action. It said Obama's plan would have forced them to renew canceled policies that did not comply with ObamaCare requirements.

"We agree with the governor. Let's move forward," said Leslie Moran, spokeswoman for the New York State Health Plan Association
