MLB: Red Sox, Bruins postpone games
The Red Sox and Bruins postponed their games last night while authorities searched for the suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings. No makeup date was announced for the Red Sox-Royals while the Bruins-Penguins game is set for today.
In Pittsburgh, Wandy Rodriguez faced the minimum while throwing seven innings of 1-hit ball to outpitch Tim Hudson and help the Pirates beat the Braves 6-0. Hudson was seeking his 200th win. ... In Cincinnati, Justin Ruggiano hit a solo homer off Reds closer Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning, sending the Marlins to a 2-1 win. ... In Philadelphia, Roy Halladay tossed a two-hitter over seven innings and the Phillies beat the Cardinals 8-2 in a rain-shortened game to snap a four-game losing streak.
GOLF: Rain suspends second round of RBC Heritage
Kevin Streelman, Charley Hoffman and rookie Steve LeBrun were tied for the RBC Heritage lead when second-round play was suspended because of rain in Hilton Head, S.C. Seventeen players were unable to finish.
In Hawaii, Suzann Pettersen shot a 4-under 68 to maintain a one-stroke lead after the third round of the LPGA Lotte Championship. ... In Duluth, Ga., Bart Bryant shot a 4-under 68 to take a share of the first-round lead in the Champions Tour's rain-delayed Greater Gwinnett Championship.
Peter Uihlein of the U.S. shot a 4-under 68 to take a one-shot lead after the second round of the Spanish Open in Valencia, Spain.
