Retired corrections officer fatally shot

A retired off-duty corrections officer was shot dead early Friday in Queens Village, police said.

The 57-year-old man was blasted in the chest around 4:30 am on 108^th Avenue, at 227^th Street, according to the NYPD.

He was rushed to Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The NYPD is still investigating at the scene. Neighbors said the man was with a woman when he was shot, and that a love triangle may have been the cause for the shooting.
