A cab driver was attacked and carjacked in Chelsea this morning, authorities said.
The driver was on 8th Avenue and West 23rd Street about 7:20 a.m. when the thug came up and punched him in the face, cops said.
The brute then strong armed the driver out of the car and took off heading north on 8th Avenue before hopping on the West Side Highway, cops said.
Police went on a wild chase, following the man up the highway and eventually across the George Washington Bridge.
The assailant was eventually captured in Leonia, N.J. and is waiting to be returned to New York, cops said.
