The guitarist for the heavy metal band Slipknot got into a drunken knife fight with his brother on Wednesday — and was stabbed in the back of the head, authorities said.

Police were dispatched to the home of Mickael Gordon Thomson, better known as Mick Thomson, after they received reports that two men were fighting in the front yard with knives, KCCI News Des Moines reports.

When they arrived, officers found the 41-year-old Iowa native and his brother, Andrew Thomson, outside with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. Both men appeared to be intoxicated and were rushed to a local hospital in two separate ambulances, police said.

The brothers had gotten into a fight inside Mick Thomson's home, which eventually escalated and spilled into his front yard, where things got violent.

No charges have been filed at this time, but an investigation is still open, authorities said.

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor tweeted Wednesday that his lead guitarist was in surprisingly good shape despite the severity of his injury.

Luckily for their fans — known as "Maggots" — Thomson is still expected to be melting faces when they start touring next month, according to KCCI.

The manager for the Grammy Award-winning band told the TV station that the man dubbed "Number 7″ will definitely be in south Florida on April 25, when Slipknot plays their first show at the Fort Rock festival.
