An explosion beneath a noodle restaurant near Columbia University sent three people to the hospital and caused a second alarm fire Tuesday night, authorities said.
Authorities say a boiler exploded just before 11:30 p.m at 600 West 116 Street, causing the sprinkler system to activate and an evacuation of the 11-story building.
The upper floors of the building holds a Barnard College dorm facility, which was evacuated after the blast.
Two firefighters and a student were taken to Saint Luke's Hospital with minor injuries, according to officials.
No other injuries were reported.
