Despite publicly calling it quits last June, its beginning to look like Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart never actually broke up, reports TMZ.

According to sources, the couple's rather conspicuous split was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

Producers wanted to drum up hype for the 45-year-old Lopez's "Boy Next Door," by hinting at a possible fling between her and her much younger co-star Ryan Guzman; while Smart, 27, was working on the UFC film, "Street."

The couple supposedly "broke up" last June, after the actress allegedly caught her boytoy sexting with two transsexual models. But while so many celebrity splits quickly turn nasty, this one was pretty clean and dry, with Smart even promoting Lopez's latest album on Twitter.

As TMZ points out, that wasn't the first sign that everything was fine with the couple.

Lopez and Smart were spotted tooling around in his BMW last August, and in January, after it appeared that Lopez's dog had bitten her neighbor, it turned out that the dog was actually owned by Smart, who was home at the time.

The couple appears to have just given up hiding their relationship come February — at which point "Boy Next Door" had already been released — when they were spotted at dinner together following a GQ event and dancing together at a Big Sean show days later.
