There is an old saying about Champagne: It goes with everything. It certainly paired nicely with Taj, 28, and Christian, 26, on their date at Stanton Street Kitchen.
Though the restaurant has an extensive wine and beer list, Taj couldn't indulge because of a yeast allergy, so she ordered some bubbly instead.
Though he loves beer, Christian followed her lead and ordered the same — something Taj really appreciated. We have a feeling they'll get another drink together soon.
He said
My first impression of Taj was positive. I liked her sophisticated-yet-edgy style, especially the dark lipstick she was wearing.
Taj is allergic to beer and wine, which was a bit disappointing because I wanted to try some of the craft brews at Stanton Street Kitchen. I thought it would be rude to get some if she was allergic, so we ordered Champagne instead. It ended up being a refreshing change for me.
I mentioned that I listened to a lot of podcasts, which got us into a discussion about Serial, the popular podcast about a murder case.
It was a fun conversation; Taj is easy to talk to and the date was enjoyable. There's not really anything I disliked about her. We exchanged numbers, and I walked her to get a cab. I plan on reaching out to her about meeting up again.
She said
When I first met Christian, I didn't find him to be my type — I usually go for a more outgoing guy — but he is attractive, warm and easy to talk to.
He and I are quite similar. We are both ambitious and into sports. I liked the fact that he was a complete gentleman and extremely smart.
Stanton Street Kitchen was a great venue. The ambience was nice; the food was amazing. Since I'm allergic to wine and beer, I ordered Champagne to drink – Christian did the same, which was a good example of him being a gentleman. I appreciated the act of solidarity.
The only thing I didn't like is how reserved he was -— but with our shared interests and how smart he is, I still had a good time. We exchanged numbers. Hopefully, we will connect again soon.
