MTA worker dies after shooting self inside subway station

An MTA money collector used his own gun to shoot himself to death inside a Greenwich Village subway station Monday night, police sources said.

A colleague discovered the man face-up with a bullet wound to his chest in an employee locker room at the 14th Street station near Seventh Avenue just before 10 p.m., the sources said.

The man, who collected cash from MetroCard vending machines all over the city, was rushed to Lenox Hill Hospital, where he died. His identity was not released.

Police said they were still investigating the incident.
