Is it too risky to ask out my co-worker?

I'm about to land a new job, but I don't want to resign until I get my bonus for the year. I worked hard for it and don't want to just walk away. Is that wrong?

The timing of any such payments is a legitimate factor when evaluating a job offer or when to make a move. Some people negotiate with their new employer to compensate for what they are leaving on the table, so they don't have to stick around and can start their new job ASAP. Some prospective employers may be happy to wait for you to collect your bonus, so they don't have to incur the expense of making up for it in the job offer. Confirm what your employer's policy is, however, before you assume that you can take the money and run.

I really like my co-worker and I'd like to ask her out, but if she says no it could be awkward — or worse, I could get accused of harassment. Is it too risky?

And there's no risk of a harassment claim, unless, of course, you don't take no for an answer, or somehow don't take no graciously. That's the only way to come out a loser in this.
