The one-legged Brooklyn Nets super fan ejected from a game for allegedly whacking people with his prosthetic leg killed himself because he was tormented with nightmares from the incident, a family member told The Post.
Jeffrey Vanchiro was tossed from the Dec. 2 Knicks-Nets game at Madison Square Garden after other fans complained about his wild courtside antics. Security guards were caught on video dragging him out — without his leg — by his arms when they dropped him head-first onto a flight of stairs.
"The family believes that when they [security guards] dropped him on his head when they were escorting him, that is when the trouble started," Jeffrey Vanchiro's grieving relative — who asked that his name not be used — said.
Vanchiro, 38, who also went by the name Jeffrey Gamblero, leaped from his father's second-story Flushing home Saturday before 9 p.m. over the horrific incident, the relative said. He died the next day.
"He jumped because he hadn't gotten any sleep,'' the relative said.
"He would try to get two minutes of sleep and he would wake up sweating and screaming. There was nothing wrong with this kid up until that day."
Now, his family plans on filing suit against MSG.
The family member denied Vanchiro — whose energetic dancing and neon outfits made him a well-known fixture at Nets games — ever hit anyone with his detachable limb.
"He was standing up dancing in the aisle in front of people who thought their view was blocked and that's why they complained," the relative said.
Vanchiro was warned several times before he was ejected, according to MSG spokesman Barry Watkins.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family," Watkins said.
