A Manhattan federal judge served a group of Long Island Orthodox Jewish men some bad news Wednesday by refusing to force the United States Tennis Association to reschedule an upstate tournament so they could avoid having to play on the Sabbath.

Judge Denise Cote denied a temporary injunction requested by the religious men's team, which would have required the USTA to reschedule the Eastern Adult Section Championship for players 55 and up from this Saturday to Monday.

Cote did not detail reasons for her ruling.

The team had filed a discrimination suit last week against the USTA.

Jeter goes 3-for-4 with two RBIs in a 4-3 win over the Devil Rays at the Stadium. The victory is the Yankees' 100th of the season, and they finish with 103 wins after a three-game sweep of the Orioles at Camden Yards in the season's final series.
