"Modern Family" may have found a worthy new sibling.
The debut of new ABC comedy "Black-ish" held onto nearly all of its lead-in audience on Wednesday night, averaging 10.8 million viewers at 9:30 p.m. following the sixth season premiere of "Modern Family" (10.9 million viewers).
"Black-ish" — stars Anthony Anderson as a successful ad man who wonders if his black family has become too assimilated — also drew a 3.3 rating in the "money" demo of adults under 50, the second-highest rated program of the night.
In its second week, new NBC Debra Messing drama "The Mysteries of Laura" held up in its move to 8 p.m., averaging 10 million viewers (down from 10.4 million last Wednesday at 10 p.m.).
Fox's freshman teen medical drama "Red Band Society" fell from 4 million to 3.4 million viewers in its second episode.
