ALBANY — A spate of negative publicity about his administration's interference with an anti-corruption panel isn't hurting Gov. Cuomo in the polls or the campaign pocketbook.
A Quinnipiac University poll being released Wednesday shows virtually no movement in the race for governor, with Cuomo battering Republican challenger Rob Astorino, 56 to 28 percent.
That's virtually unchanged from Cuomo's 57 to 28 percent lead in May, before a scathing New York Times report disclosed that his intervened with the anti-corruption Moreland Commission panel to shield the governor's allies.
An overwhelming 83 percent of voters in the poll said corruption is a problem in Albany — and 48 percent said Cuomo is part of that problem.
Campaign records show that Cuomo hauled in a record $3,383,273 in donations in July, about $400,000 more than his previous record in January 2013.
"Most of these donors still are thinking he is going to win and they are not too concerned about accusations against him as they are about their ability to buy access to the potential victor," said Bill Mahoney of the NYPIRG good-government group.
