An accused strangler who fled to Jamaica in 2005 was arrested when he tried to re-enter the country, cops said Tuesday.
Michael Young, now 39, fatally choked Sofia Rogonicka on Staten Island before ditching her body in a cardboard shipping container in Brooklyn, authorities said.
Rogonicka, 47, was reported missing a week before the grim discovery was made outside a Midwood movie house, according to police.
Young's DNA was found by the medical examiner under Rogonicka's fingernails, but he had already hopped a plane to Jamaica.
After hiding out in the Caribbean for nearly nine years, Young made his way to Belize in 2014 and recently went to the US Embassy to apply for a passport, cops said.
Officials there learned he was wanted. He was detained and has been extradited to the United States.
