Overbooked Flight MH17 saved one family from death

A chance of fate saved their lives.

Baby-toting British couple Barry and Izzy Sim were set to board the doomed Malaysia Airlines flight out of Amsterdam, but were asked to switch to a later flight because theirs had been overbooked.

The Sims agreed — and they're still around to tell the tale because of it.

"There must have been someone watching over us and saying, 'You must not get on that flight,' " Izzy told London's Daily Telegraph newspaper.

When the Brits heard about the tragic news of Flight 17, they felt gutted.

"You get this sick feeling in the pit of your stomach," Barry said. "We started getting butterflies. Your heartbeat starts going."

While they are loyal Malaysia Airline fliers, Izzy said she was "so glad to be on the next KLM flight."

The husband says he'd have no problem flying again.

"In my mind, lightning never strikes the same place twice, so I am still philosophical that you get on the flight and you go about your life," he told the Telegraph.

"I know my wife doesn't feel like that. Probably the last thing she wants to do now is fly, especially to Kuala Lumpur."
