Joan Rivers had the last word in a feisty CNN interview Saturday.
The 81-year-old fashion critic and comedian got into a heated argument with anchor Fredricka Whitfield after being called "mean."
"It's not mean, it's not mean, it's not mean. I tell the truth," said Rivers in the pre-taped interview. "I'm sure I say the same things that all the viewers say to their friends sitting next to them on the couch."
Things quickly escalated when Whitfield began quizzing Rivers on the fur coat she wears on the cover of her new book, "Diary of a Mad Diva."
"You know this whole interview is becoming a defensive interview," she shouted. "Are you wearing leather shoes? Shut up."
Rivers continued to defend herself while Whitfield wrote off Rivers' irate reaction as part of her act.
"You know what, I'm going," said Rivers while pulling off her microphone. "I really am going because all you've done is negative. I've made people laugh for 50 years. I was put on earth to make people laugh and my book is funny … You are not the one to interview a person who does humor. Sorry!"
