Anna Paquin dyes her hair purple

Anna Paquin has jumped on the latest celebrity craze: purple hair.

The "True Blood" actress, 31, dyed her sandy blonde strands a rich purple and aqua color Wednesday.

"@Auracolorist just fulfilled my teen dream of being a mermaid. @_smoyer whatcha think?" she tweeted, asking her husband (and "True Blood" costar) Stephen Moyer for his opinion.

Moyer quickly responded to the new 'do. "Wow wife… You look amazing. #sookie is no more :( Long live Mrs. Emery…! xx #TrueToTheEnd #tbs7 #trueblood," he tweeted.

In a follow-up Instagram about her new coif, the "X-Men" star said the dye-job was a gift to herself. "Happy early birthday to ME," she wrote.

Pacquin turns 32 on July 24.
