A Brooklyn man suffering an asthma attack waited 26 minutes for an ambulance, a delay that killed him, his family charges.
Daniel Cruz, 40, was with wife Tynisha and their three kids in the Red Hook Houses on May 21 when he was stricken, prompting Tynisha to call 911.
No one answered her 7 p.m. call, so she called again at 7:10, and when no help arrived by 7:20, she ran out for help, court papers say.
It took three minutes to find a cop, and another three minutes for help to arrive, the family says.
The FDNY and the NYPD dispute the family's claims.
A 911 call was made at 7:47 p.m. and transferred to FDNY Emergency Medical Services at 7:50 p.m., police and fire officials say. A second call was made at 7:53, and the first ambulance was there by 7:58, the FDNY says.
Daniel Cruz was taken more than two miles away to Methodist Hospital but fell into a coma and died on May 30, the local blog Red Hook Star-Revue reported.
Tynisha is seeking an order from Brooklyn Supreme Court for the 911 records.
"We're trying to get the records so we can investigate," said her lawyer, Jeffrey Shapiro.
