An orphaned baby bear is learning more than just the bare essentials at a California rescue center after a kind-hearted stranger saved her last month.
The adorable cub was left in the Bear League's driveway on April 16 after a man rescued the orphaned cub, who was crying and hugging her dead mother, more than 400 miles away near the Humboldt Redwoods State Park. He just couldn't bear to leave her there grieving.
"His conscience would not allow him to walk away and leave her to die…thankfully," The Bear League's Facebook page wrote of baby Tahoe's rescuer, who correctly identified the cub's blanket color and type of kennel.
Last week, Tahoe demonstrated that she's a quick learner as she started drinking her baby bear formula from a bowl instead of a bottle. While she made a mess in the process, the kennel wrote that this is great progress for the little ball of fur.
Tahoe will likely be released back in her native lands about a year from now, once she is big enough to survive in this grizzly world on her own.
