A Moroccan man was busted for allegedly plotting to attack a school and a Connecticut federal building using remote-controlled toy planes packed with explosives.
FBI agents arrested El Mehdi Semlali Fahti, 27, after a sting revealed his alleged plot, according to the Connecticut Post.
The feds found wires and tools in Fahti's Stamford home, the report said. It was not clear if he had any explosives there as well.
Fahti allegedly explained his elaborate scheme to investigators during recorded conversations.
He allegedly told an agent that he had studied the plan for months, that he had learned how to pack the explosives while he was a student in his home country, and that he would be able to obtain the materials at the Mexican border, the newspaper reported.
He also said the plot would be funded through "secret accounts" that used laundered cash and drug-dealing profits.
The federal affidavit did not specify which buildings Fahti planned to target, but it did specify that the school was out of state while the building was in Connecticut.
Fahti could face federal terrorism charges in the case, according to the report.
