Long Island woman gives birth on sidewalk

A panicked Long Island woman gave birth to a pair of baby boys in frightening fashion yesterday — the first on an Elmont sidewalk and the second in an ambulance on the way to the hospital, cops said.

The ordeal began when Nassau officers rushed to help Mariejunia Ally, 33, after a caller reported a pregnant woman moaning for help at Meacham Avenue and Rosser Street at 6:40 a.m., sources said.

Three officers from the 4th Precinct hustled to the intersection where Ally told them that she was giving birth to twins.

With the help of arriving EMTs, the officers delivered the first of the two boys directly on the street in front of stunned early-morning drivers.

The mom was then loaded into an ambulance and rushed to Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola — but the second tot refused to wait and was delivered in the vehicle, cops said.

EMTs were forced to perform heart resuscitation on the second twin but were able to stabilize his breathing and heart rate before reaching the hospital.

Cops said that the new mother and her boys "were admitted to the hospital and are doing well."

Nassau County police did not identify the three officers who aided Ally.
