The quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach, but the same could be said for a woman. Marcus, 28, discovered this when he met Nimaako, also 28, at BLT Prime. Together, they bonded over not only the foods to which they're allergic but also the foods they love. This included small plates, vegetable sides and a porterhouse steak for two. But did they dig each other as much as they dug into their dinners?
She said:
I was running about 10 minutes late and worried about my first impression — but relieved when I arrived first. Marcus arrived five minutes after I did, smiling, which calmed my nerves. I was only mildly peeved he kept his hat on after checking his coat.
Over dinner, we talked at length about food: our allergies (we're both allergic to bananas) and our love for vegetables. Our dinner at BLT Prime was amazing. Marcus and I agreed on sharing the porterhouse steak for two.
My only complaint, other than the hat, was that Marcus talked about his last girlfriend. But overall, our conversation flowed easily. We exchanged numbers and agreed to get together again soon.
He said:
I walked in and saw Nimaako sitting with a welcoming smile. That was the first thing I noticed — and her beautifully shaped eyes.
We immediately bonded over our excitement for the food. I'm glad Nimaako was comfortable enough to enjoy what we ordered. It's attractive when a girl doesn't just pick over a salad.
Other than food, we talked about families, careers and other interests. I liked her openness to trying new things. She is attractive, cool, funny and smart.
We decided we would hang out again. I'm going to take her to my favorite restaurant. I made sure to get her number when I walked her to her cab, and the next day, I texted her a picture of my leftover steak and eggs. I'm open to anything, so we'll see where it goes.
