Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina did a 180-degree flip today and said she's looking to find new classrooms for some 200 students displaced when the city blocked a highly-rated charter school from sharing a public school building in Harlem.
"We're looking for additional space that might accommodate the Success Academy," Farina said on Fox 5′s "Good Day New York" show.
Earlier in the week, the chancellor said the middle school kids were "on their own."
On reflection, Farina said that was a mistake.
"I shouldn't have said it. I had just come off a meeting. I had done a lot of things. They stick a mike in your face. Did I mean it? No."
