Sara Bareilles gets Grammy nom over Kanye, Timberlake

Forget flashy limos. Singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles may be up for five awards at Sunday night's Grammys ceremony, but she pounds the pavement just like any other New Yorker. On any given day, you're likely to bump into her in the West Village as she orders juice at Life Thyme, tucks into the catch of the day at Mary's Fish Camp or even picks up fancy stationery from Greenwich Letterpress.

Bareilles made her big cross-country move a year ago. "After 14 years in LA, I spent most of last year feeling like I personally was stagnant," the 34-year-old, who grew up in Northern California, tells The Post. "But I made a trip out to New York to record my new album, 'The Blessed Unrest.' I spent a lot of time wandering the streets during breaks in recording, and it made me want to live in the West Village. I felt vibrant and excited."

Since then, her life has been anything but stagnant. "The Blessed Unrest" hit No. 2 on the Billboard charts, her song "Brave" has become ubiquitous (including soundtracking a Windows commercial) and she played a landmark gig at Radio City Music Hall in October. And Bareilles caused jaws to drop when she scored a Grammy nomination for Album Of The Year — a spot which many thought would go to Justin Timberlake's "20/20 Experience" or Kanye West's "Yeezus."

"I'm litterally [sic] shaking," she tweeted on the day of the nomination. Her inability to spell "literally" suggests she wasn't kidding.

Things are about to get even more heady at Sunday's ceremony in Los Angeles, where Bareilles will sing a duet with singer-songwriter Carole King. "I am getting the great honor of playing alongside my hero," she says. "I feel like this is  .  .  .  a master class with the best of the best."

But once that well-deserved moment of glitz and glamour is over, her life as a New York newbie is set to continue. One of her more recent discoveries is the venue Smalls Jazz Club on West 10th Street, which she initially overlooked.

"I was walking by this place recently, and there was a guy outside who tried to invite me in by saying, 'You like Mozart?' I said yes but kept on walking at first. Then I thought, 'Why not? I'll go in.' So I went inside where there was a wonderful string quartet playing Mozart. That's another great thing about New York — you feel like anything could be going on and you want to be a part of it."
