Queen Latifah will be honored by the New York Women in Communciations with its 2014 Matrix Award, which honors "women who change the world."

Latifah, whose eponymous talk show will return for Season 2, will be honored April 28 at the Waldorf Astori , along with eight others. "Queen Latifah was chosen not only for what she has done, but also for what she has given back, as her work and career are an inspiration to all women who are trying to change the world for the better," says the organization.

Past Matrix winners include Meryl Streep, Tina Fey, Robin Roberts, Ellen DeGeneres, Martha Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg and Meredith Vieira.

Latifah's talk-show colleague, Steve Harvey, also hosts the syndicated version of "Family Feud" — which has posted its best viewership numbers since at least 1988. For the week ending Jan. 12, "FF" averaged nearly 8.7 million viewers. It also delivered a record 5.8 household rating (6.7 million homes) for that same week and hit a 2.9 in the "money" daytime demo (women 25-54).

More daytime: "Judge Judy" Sheindlin has created a new syndicated court show, "Hot Bench," which will premiere in the fall on a bunch of station groups nationwide, including CBS stations (no word yet on whether it will air on WCBS/Ch. 2 in New York). Other station groups include Tribune, Sinclair, Cox, Nexstar and more.

The show will be hosted by Judge Patricia DiMango and attorneys Tanya Acker and Larry Bakman, with the trio "hearing court cases, arguing the merits of the case amongst themselves and rendering a verdict," according to show producer CBS Television Distribution.

Sheindlin's "Judge Judy" continues to go great guns as daytime's top-rated court show, averaging a whopping 11 million viewers for the week ending Jan. 12.

Last, but not least . . .

Maury Povich visits "The Trisha Goddard Show" Friday (4 p.m./Ch. 55) in an effort to get tough-talkin' Trisha Goddard to help him with a previous "Maury" guest (a promiscuous young woman who's reverted to her bad old ways) . . . Melody Thomas Scott celebrates her 35th anniversary playing Nikki Newman on CBS' "The Young and the Restless" next month . . . They must be getting bored over there: TV Land is producing an animated episode of "Hot in Cleveland" that will air in the show's fifth season featuring animated renderings of stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Betty White . . . The "Today" show has chosen Nancy Horan's "Under the Wide and Starry Sky" for its "Today Book Club."
