Film follows Mitt Romney’s failed White House run

Half way through the trailer for the documentary, "Mitt," there's a sound bite of Matt Lauer telling Mitt Romney, "A recent poll said that 43% of Americans are not even sure who you are."

It's at that point that it's clear what Greg Whiteley's film about the failed Presidential candidate is really about, finally showing viewers just what type of man Romney is.

For the Netflix original documentary, Whiteley – director of "Resolved" and "New York Doll" – spent six years following Romney around as he went from governor of Massachusetts to failed presidential nominee. And based on the trailer, he got about as unfiltered of access as a filmmaker could have asked for, allowing him the opportunity to capture moments of pain (the realization for the entire Romney clan that he really wasn't going to do it) and surprising moments of levity (an ill-advised attempt to iron a tuxedo while wearing it) on camera.

"Mitt" will be available on Netflix starting January 24, 2014.
