A freak accident involving two workers stringing up holiday lights in a cherry picker in Midtown has left one person clinging to life and another in serious condition, authorities said.

The workers had just finished hanging the decorations and were lowering themselves inside of the bucket on the corner of Columbus Avenue and West 67th Street around 1:30 a.m., Tuesday, when a UPS tractor trailer smashed into them, knocking the victims to the ground, officials said.

The men suffered head trauma and were taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital. One of the victims suffered potentially life-threatening injuries and the other man is listed in serious condition, authorities said.

The driver, who had been traveling southbound on Columbus Avenue, remained at the scene, according to police.
