The MTA went quackers after Aflac let its beloved TV-advertising duck waddle right into a Manhattan subway station for a publicity stunt.
The adorable fowl was in town to do some promotion for the insurance company, and ruffled some feathers when it was taken into the 23rd Street station in the Flatiron District Monday.
"Ducks don't belong on the subway," declared MTA spokesman Adam Lisberg in a testy statement. "Especially waddling through stations, and especially not when they're used as part of a publicity stunt that makes it harder for our customers to get around."
The subway stunt was for gimmick for Advertising Week, an Aflac spokesperson told The Village Voice.
But Lisberg said, "New Yorkers know that animals are only allowed in the subway when they're enclosed in containers."
