A man died while in police custody last night after officers struggled with the suspect in front of a Norwood bodega, police said.
An NYPD sergeant and plainclothes detective approached Jose Muniz, 52, as he was standing in front of the Jerome Avenue store at around 10:50 p.m., when the "career perp" allegedly popped what appeared to be narcotics into his mouth, police sources said.
The cops grabbed Muniz and a struggle ensued before he was on the ground and cuffed, police said.
A short time later, the officers noticed Muniz had stopped breathing and administered CPR before he died at the scene, authorities said.

Muniz had been arrested over 30 times including for narcotics possession, burglary and possession of a firearm, among other crimes.
