Commuters face a difficult trip to the city this morning after a train derailment last night has led to cancellations and delays, authorities said.
The train derailed shortly before 6 p.m. inside of one of Amtrack's East River Tunnels—and left one tunnel out of service, according to the MTA.
No one was hurt during the derailment.
Due to the closed tunnel, 34 trains will be canceled or diverted to the Atlantic Terminal station in Brooklyn, or the Hunterspoint Avenue station in Queens.
At some transfer stations, the MTA will allow commuters to transfer for free on the 2, 3, 7 and E subway lines.
Service from Babylon, Far Rockaway, Long Beach, Hempstead, Ronkoma, and West Hempstead to Penn Station has been affected this morning, authorities added.
