SOCCER: Suarez fined for biting foe

Liverpool star Luis Suarez was charged with violent conduct by the Football Association after biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic Sunday in a Premier League match. Suarez could be in line for a lengthy suspension after the FA said a three-match ban would be insufficient.

Barcelona did not say for sure if Lionel Messi (hamstring) will start against Bayern Munich today in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals.

The Twins pre-emptively postponed their game against the Marlins, due to approaching inclement weather. The game will be made up today as the second half of a day-night doubleheader. Four of Minnesota's last eight scheduled games have been wiped out because of weather problems.

HOOPS: Niagara hires Casey

Niagara University hired Long Island University Post's Chris Casey as the Purple Eagles coach. The Division II Pioneers from Brookville went a combined 62-25 in three years under Casey, including an 18-9 finish last season. He replaces lJoe Mihalich, who left to take over at Hofstra.

Joe Scarborough, a 50-year-old self-employed electrical contractor from Charlotte, on Sunday rolled the first 900 series in Professional Bowlers Association history — three straight perfect games. He said his previous high three-game series was an 838 and he had bowled 14 prior 300 games.
