Rutgers already has lost five current basketball players, and it lost a recruit Saturday night.
Point guard Shane Rector of The Bronx verbally committed to Missouri after his official visit to the SEC school, his father Deshon told The Post.
Known as a pure scorer with explosive athleticism, Rector committed to then-coach Mike Rice in late January, but opened up his recruitment when Rice was fired in the wake of a video showing the coach abusing players was released. Rector said he kept Rutgers on his list, but without a new coach in place, he went in another direction.
Butler, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh and Western Kentucky were also involved.
The 6-foot-1 standout, who had a big year for prep powerhouse South Kent (Conn.), led local Catholic school St. Raymond to the CHSAA Class AA city title last season. He recently played in the Jordan Brand Classic Regional Game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, a showcase for the top local prospects from New York and New Jersey.
He could receive minutes at the point immediately as Missouri graduates elite floor general Phil Pressey after losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
