A state lawmaker in Washington wants to slap a tax on bicyclists — because of the pollution they cause by breathing.
"Since CO2 is deemed a greenhouse gas and a pollutant, bicyclists are actually polluting when they ride," Rep. Ed Orcutt said.
The measure would slap a $25 tax on all bicycles costing more than $500.

An Illinois school district is being sued — by one of its own board members.
Princess Dempsey went to federal court after she says a teacher in the Lindrop School District duct-taped her son's mouth shut for 45 minutes because the boy was talking too much.
The suit — which claims the boy was left traumatized by the taping — seeks $100,000 in damages.

The mayor of crime-ravaged Oakland, Calif., has come under fire after sending out a weekly newsletter containing an ad for a class on how to pick locks.
With burglaries skyrocketing, the class advertised in Mayor Jean Quan's circular is called "Introduction to Lockpicking" and costs $40. "Opening a lock without keys is easier than you think!" the ad says.
