It's a slushy, cold commute in the New York metropolitan area.
A very wet snow is causing some slippery road conditions Friday morning.
Several inches of snow have already fallen on eastern Long Island and Westchester and Rockland counties.
Some schools are delaying their start times by one to two hours.
The city has suspended alternate side parking regulations to facilitate snow removal. Meters and other parking regulations remain in effect.
Snow flurries are expected to continue until about noon Friday before changing to rain.
About two to six inches of snow are expected on Long Island and one to four inches in Westchester and Rockland.
The National Weather Service says most of New Jersey can expect from 1 to 4 inches before the snow changes to light rain throughout Friday. However, a winter storm warning has been issued for Passaic and western Bergen counties until noon.
Unofficial accumulations show 8 inches on the ground in Wantage in Sussex County, 4 inches in Edison, 2 1/2 in Freehold and a trace in Mount Holly.
Saturday's forecast calls for temperatures in the 50s.
NJ Transit will cross-honor bus and rail tickets throughout the day.
Commuters are advised to give themselves extra time to get to work.
The snow follows the storm system's heavy winds, which left some coastal areas flooded.
All the snow should be gone by tomorrow - when temperatures reach into the low 50s.
